The Draft Community Building Strategy is Here!

Since February 2012, we have been working with the Region of Waterloo, the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo along with hundreds of stakeholders and community members to create the Community Building Strategy (CBS). A Draft CBS is now available for you to view, by clicking here.

Thank you for attending our Fall Open Houses!

Fall Open Houses were held in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo the week of September 17. Attendees dropped in to view and provide comment on the initial Draft Strategies of the CTC Community Building Strategy.

The Open House in Waterloo also included a keynote address by Karina Ricks, an expert in transit oriented development, economic revitalization and community development. Ricks’ presentation focused on the need to provide more travel choices (from rapid transit to road improvements) and the various ways to support and encourage community building initiatives. Thank you for attending and sharing your feedback with us!

We Appreciate your Participation!

The final Opportunity forum Stengthening Our Community wrapped up last week. Audience goers in Cambridge were treated to an engaging talk about the transportation ‘grid’ by Sue Zielinski. Sue emphasized the importance of focussing on all modes of transport in an integrated systems approach, rather than separately. The Forum ended with an Open House, which took place on June 14 in Kitchener.

Throughout the Forums, participants have provided useful insight and great ideas in developing the Community Building Strategy. We appreciate your participation and thank you for your input!

Thanks for Sharing your Vision!

Posted March 30, 2012
The first Open House – ‘A Vision for the Corridor’ – was attended by over 60 stakeholders and members of the many communities along the line. The Open House was covered by CTV News and reported in the Kitchener Record.

The Open House included markable display boards (available on the Resources & Materials tab) and maps. Visitors to the Open House were encouraged to write notes on the boards and panels to help the consultant team understand what is important about the corridor.

The Open House included a presentation, which you can download here, as well as a working session and round table discussions. The working sessions brought different interests together to answer a series of questions about a particular section of the corridor. All sections of the corridor were covered.

The information shared at this Open House will help inform the next stages of the Community Building Strategy. Join us for a future session. Stay tuned!
